Adding links to text
The HTMLinks applet is designed to allow hypertext support to Ovation Pro documents. This means that it doesn't just add links, it is also capable of adding markers and emails, as well as linking to markers.

Before we go into detail of how to use the applet, it would probably be best if you had an understanding of what we mean by links, markers and email. If you don't need to know about these just click here.

People travel through the world wide web by using Web Browsers (for browsing, obviously).A Web browser renders the documents provided by the internet servers, providing and interface to the user.So the user can move about the web, links have to be provided. These are areas of a document (text or graphic) that when clicked on by the user (by using a mouse pointer) cause the browser to go and 'fetch' a new page.

These links can also cause an Email program to load and prepare it for sending an email to any address that you desire. They can also make a browser 'jump' through long documents, these are called markers, and an example features above to skip this section of instruction.
Instructions
When you installed HTMLPro, the installation program will have installed the HTMLinks applet into Ovation Pro for you. When you run Ovation Pro now, you should notice a new button on you button bar (shown here on the right). This is the HTMLinks button, if you click on it, it will bring up the main menu.

Convert old links will scan through the current document (from the caret) and attempt to find any links or markers created with the earlier version of this applet.

Prepare for conversion will add small text where each link appears, as this is needed by HTMLPro to add the link information needed for use on the Internet.
Adding a link
To add a link, select the area of text and then click on the Add Internet link option in the links menu. This will bring up a window for you. From here you can enter a new link by filling in the input fields. The link field specifies the HTML document to load, or the file to download.

Some browsers display information about the link when the mouse pointer is over it, enter any information in the Link Name field (when you select a link from the Go to menu the Link Name is displayed instead of the Link). If you wish the new document to be loaded in a different frame than the one currently in use (if you are using frames) then enter the frame name in the Frame field.

If you wish to link to a marker (which you will need to do if you are using markers) you can just click on the menu icon next to the Link field, and a menu will appear, allowing you to access a menu of previously used links and markers. When you select Links or markers from this list there details will be entered into the input fields in this window, allowing you to alter them slightly if you need to (Please select a different Link Name for every link).
When you are happy that the details are correct, click Insert link.A window will appear on screen showing you the current link at the caret position.0img_c
Adding a marker
Adding a marker is much like adding a link, except that there is only field to enter data into, and there is no menu to pick previous markers from. All you do is select your text, click on the menu option, and then click on the Insert Marker button in the window.

Inserting an Email Address
Adding an email address almost the same as adding a marker. The only difference is that you do have a menu of previously used emails to choose from. All you do is select your text, click on the menu option, and then click on the Insert Email button in the window.

As with the links, the current marker/email address will be display in a window.

Go to
If you can't remember were you have positioned a link/marker or email then just click on the link/marker or email on the menu that is shown when you go across from the Go to option.Ovation Pro will then move you to that position and display the link/marker or email in a window.

Edit link/marker/email
The caret needs to be positioned at the link/marker or email that you wish to edti (you can use the Go to function for this). When you click on the edit option in the menu a window will appear (much link the add/insert window for that option), all you need to do is enter the new details into the edit window and then click on the edit button.

Remove link/marker/email
The caret needs to be positioned at the link/marker or email that you wish to remove (you can use the Go to function for this). When you click on the option in the menu the link will be completely removed from the Ovation document.

Prepare for conversion
before you save your document as a DDL you must select Prepare for Conversion. This will place 1pt subscript text at all of the locations, including all of the link/marker and email informaton. If you do not do this, then HTMLPro will not insert the links for you.
